My friend Rob mentioned that the way to a girl's heart is through gelato. More specifically, he swears that the way to her heart is through La Casa Gelato on Venables by Strathcona Park. Last night, Steph and Alisa brought me there for my first time. It was immediate sensory overload once I stepped inside. 218 flavors to choose from, and about as many people to fight through. I went to pre-pay for my single scoop waffle cone, then perused my options. Eventually I saw a girl in front of me choose pina colada and decided I'd follow suit because it seemed like a good idea. I handed the guy behind the counter my token for a single scoop, but he snuck a half-assed second scoop to my cone, which I thought was really awesome.
I think what attracts people to La Casa Gelato is not only the vast variety of flavors, but the actual flavors available. Spicy mango? Wasabi? Curry? Avocado? I lacked the courage to sample these unlikely gelato flavors, and it was also extremely crowded that evening, but I do hope that someday I will try something that's out of my taste bud's comfort zone.
